Acosta Danza announces the birth of its youth subdivision Acosta Danza Yunior, formed by dancers recently graduated from the academy of this institution.
With the official premiere set for February 2024, the new artistic group will pursue a contemporary line, clearly influenced by modern Cuban dance and the island's folkloric and popular dances, without leaving aside the technical development of classical ballet.
Its title establishes a play on words with Carlos Acosta's middle name and the Latin voice "Iunior", which means "younger than...", widely used to refer to people who are starting out in a professional discipline.
Acosta Danza Yunior will take the advantage of the power and creative daring of the youngest professional dancers on the road to expressive renewal. It is the result of the special syllabus of the Acosta Danza Academy, which integrates all dance specialties at the same level, inserted as well into the Cuban artistic education system that every year graduates dancers of proven quality.
Acosta Danza Yunior will integrate into its presentations the work of choreographers, musicians, designers, stage technicians and visual artists from the island and other countries. The new company proposes to become one of the most attractive presentation cards of Cuba's young culture.
