The Acosta Danza Academy has just graduated its first group of dancers of specialized in mixed technique who, during three years of studies, completed their artistic training at the educational center.
The eleven students, from different Cuban provinces, were selected in 2017 after several rigorous auditions. The previous training of each of them in dance or ballet was completed in the academy directed by Carlos Acosta, which has the purpose of creating professional dancers who make up the cast of the Acosta Danza company and are capable of assuming the most dissimilar dance styles.
In three academic years —extended in its last stage due to the Covid 19 pandemic— the students received classes in ballet, modern, contemporary and folkloric dance, languages, art history, dance history, choreographic composition, ballroom dance workshops, acting, among others disciplines. This graduation represents a milestone in the history of Acosta Danza, since from that moment on it begins to work with professionals prepared to take on the stylistic variety of its repertoire.
