The choreography "Mundo Interpretado", by the Brazilian Juliano Nunes and performed by Acosta Danza, has been distinguished with the Villanueva Critic's Award as one of the best stage shows exhibited in Cuba in the period 2020 - 2021.
The award was decided by the Members of the Section of Criticism and Research of the Performing Arts, belonging to the Association of Performing Artists of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (Uneac).
"Mundo interpretado" was world premiered on January 24, 2020 at the Gran Teatro de La Habana Alicia Alonso during the "Cuerpos" Season of Acosta Danza. It features original music by Pepe Gavilondo, lights designed by Pedro Benítez, and costumes and sets by visual artist Glenda León.
Along with "Mundo interpretado" the dance shows "Seventh Symphony" by Uwe Scholz with the National Ballet of Cuba and "Nutcracker" choreography by Osnel Delgado with Malpaso were also awarded. Also the plays "Reportaje Macbeth", directed by Raúl Martín with Teatro de la Luna; "Ubú sin cuernos", directed by Miguel Abreu with Ludi Teatro; "Luz", directed by Osvaldo Doimeadiós with Oficio de Isla. The Villanueva Awards for the best shows of the period will be delivered in the month of March, in the context of the celebrations for International Theater Day.
