Wendy Friol

Born in the province of Pinar del Río, she began her studies in 2014 at the “Pedro Raúl Sánchez Rodríguez" Vocational Art School. During her first years of study, she participated in dance competitions such as the one held in her province, in which she received special recognition for her participation. In 2016, she obtained second prize for the ensemble work Alborada campesina, in the same contest. In 2017 she received the award for the best Female Performance at a provincial choreographic festival. In 2018, she won first place with the ensemble work Circuito and the prize for the best female performance in a regional contest in the province of Artemisa. Together with her group, she was invited with the same work to the national contest held in the province of Villa Clara and obtained second place. Over the years she was selected the most comprehensive student in the Dance specialty for three consecutive years. In 2019, again at the provincial festival, she won the award for best female performance and first place with her work, Solo. At the end of those years, she was selected as the best graduate of the Dance specialty. In 2019 she begins to study at the Acosta Danza Academy. During that time, she danced the choreography Tocororo Suite, by Carlos Acosta. In November 2021, she is part of the dancers of the Stretch Timemonochromes Project, by Belgian choreographer Isabella Soupart, in the Cuban Art building of the National Museum of Fine Arts, during the celebration of the 14th Havana Contemporary Art Biennial. She graduated in 2023 and went on to join the founding cast of Acosta Danza Yunior.
